Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville, NC, USA

The Smoky Mountains run parallel to the Blue Ridge Mountains in certain parts of North Carolina. That means you will find the Blue Ridge Parkway often overlapping between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Smokies. You can cruise along this stretch of asphalt as you take in the scenery in the comfort of your own vehicle. If you ever get tired and need a rest, you can always stop at one of the designated picnic spots and enjoy a meal by the roadside as the mountain winds rush to meet you.
If you plan to travel along the road, there is one thing that you should keep in mind though. The GPS coverage in the area isn’t great because of all the mountains. You will need to keep an eye on the milepost system as you cruise along if you don’t want to get lost. Always remember the numbers increase as you head from the north to the south.
